Decentralised Structures and Civil Society

Along with State structures and market structures, the role of civil society is also important in the containment of a pandemic. Many countries witnessed civil society actors contributing to social resilience by donating money and medical supplies, providing imperative social services, disseminating needed information, and advocating for marginalized groups in society. There is a need to document the role of civil society groups like community organisations, political organisations etc. apart from new people’s movements in different countries. In this section we would like to invite papers on these themes especially focusing on how non state actors can enhance social resilience to cope with extreme events by examining and comparing civil society’s responses to COVID-19.
